THE STORY OF Karissa

Hey friend I’m so stoked you’re here!
Born and raised in California, I have been creating for as long as I can remember. I grew up filling sketchbooks, painting, and experimenting with anything that let me blend color and texture. Making things with my hands has always felt like home. The process, the mess, the trial and error all of it is what keeps me inspired.
Collage became my signature in the most natural way. What started as experimenting turned into the thing that made everything click. It is part treasure hunt and part storytelling. I flip through magazines, pull scraps, and look for the piece that brings the whole image to life. Each collage is filled with emotion, memory, and a little nostalgia.
I have always loved the Japanese art of kintsugi, the practice of repairing cracked pottery with gold so the flaws become the most beautiful part. My collage process feels the same. I take fragments, memories, mistakes, and the little broken bits of life and rebuild them into something new. Something honest. Something with soul.
People remain my favorite subject. I am drawn to faces and personalities and the way art can capture someone’s presence in a single visual moment. Each piece feels like a snapshot of character created from paper.
Now based in Los Angeles, I continue to build my body of work one collage at a time. Every piece that leaves my studio carries a bit of my story and a reminder that art, like life, is made from imperfect pieces that come together in their own beautiful way.
