This Basquiat collage was honestly a blast to make because he is one of the artists who got me obsessed with mixed media in the first place. I have always loved how messy, loud, and fearless his work is, so getting to build his face out of paper felt really natural. I pulled colors and textures that remind me of his paintings and added little chaotic cut outs to match that raw, fast, scribbly energy he had.
 
His crown was my favorite part to create. It is such an iconic symbol and building it with layered paper instead of paint gave it a different kind of punch. There are small details tucked throughout the collage that nod to his style without copying it, just enough to feel like a Basquiat tribute while still being completely my own.
 
The original collage has already been sold, so I am only offering prints of this artwork. If you love Basquiat or just love bold, gritty, art-kid vibes, this one fits perfectly in any creative space.
